The Palacio de Bellas Artes, is one of the most
beautiful and iconic buildings in Mexico City.
It’s a place where art, music, dance, and history
come together under one incredible roof! The
outside is Art Nouveau, and the inside is Art Deco.

FAMOUS GLASS CURTAIN

There’s a giant stage
curtain made of crystal
and glass, only one of its
kind in the world!

CONSTRUCTION TOOK FOREVER

It started in 1904 but
wasn’t finished until 1934,
30 years later!

MEXICAN MATERIALS

The marble and other
materials used in its
construction come from
different quarries in
Mexico.

ART NOUVEAU AND DECO

Its design was by the
Italian architect Adamo
Boari, who designed a
building combining
different styles, art
nouveau and art deco.

THE CENTRAL DOME

In the central dome, there
is a group of sculptures of
women holding hands
that represent Drama,
Lyric Drama, Comedy, and
Tragedy.

MURALS BY LEGENDS

Inside, you’ll find huge
murals by Diego Rivera,
David Alfaro Siqueiros,
and other famous
Mexican artists.

THE CAPACITY

The main stage is 24 m
long and its main hall
had capacity for 1,791
spectators, but with the
renovations around 300
seats have been lost.

AN UNESCO GEM

UNESCO declared the
Palace of Fine Arts an
artistic monument in
1987.

FILLED WITH ART

In the visual arts, it
houses the Museum of
the Palace of Fine Arts,
with eight exhibition
halls..
