A HISTORIC SEAT OF POWER

The Palacio Municipal de Puebla is the elegant city
hall located right on the main square. With its grand
architecture and deep roots in Puebla’s past, it’s a
proud symbol of local government and history.

NEOCLASSICAL BEAUTY

Its current look comes
from the late 1800s, with
arches, columns, and
balconies.

CLOCK WITH A STORY

The main tower has a
clock that’s been keeping
time for over a century.

HISTORIC BALCONY

Important speeches and
events are often
delivered from its grand
central balcony.

HISTORY ON THE WINDOWS

Inside it guards an
emblematic Carrara
marble staircase and
stained glass windows
that tell the history of the
city.

GUARDS THE TITLE OF CITY

Inside is the Town Hall,
which keeps important
documents such as the
city’s coat of arms and
the royal decree granting
Puebla the title of city.

TOWN HALL AND PRISON

The first building, built in
1536 served as the seat
of civil power, hosting
the town hall and the
prison.

ENGLISH ELIZABETHAN STYLE

In 1897, English architect
Charles Hall, known for
his Neoclassical and
Renaissance style work,
was commissioned to
design the current
structure.

GRAND PRESENCE

The facade is made of
gray quarry stone, with a
two-level design and a
central attic that, together
with the finials of the two
towers at the ends, give it
a grand presence.

SEVERAL TRANSFORMATIONS

The building has
undergone several
transformations over the
centuries. A second level
was added in the early
18th century.
