measuring 169 meters
long by 70 meters wide.

BENEATH THE JUNGLE
The city of Chichén Itzá is
believed it was
abandoned in the early
12th century. After that, it
lay hidden beneath the
jungle for 500 years and
was rediscovered by
archaeologists in 1843.
AN UNESCO GEM
The Chichén Itzá
archaeological complex
was declared a World
Heritage Site by UNESCO
in 1988.
